Revisionist History

…and here we have that masterpiece of American History, General George Washington crossing the Delaware at the Battle of Trenton on Christmas night, 1776, or as it is more commonly known, simply Washington crossing the Delaware.

Now, there are those that would tell you that this painting is not historically accurate in a number of ways, foremost among them the fact that the American flag that is being held by James Monroe hadn’t yet been designed at the time of the Battle of Trenton. Complaints such as these are simply quibbling over minor points of the painting’s composition, which would be rendered less effective were these details presented more accurately.

All that being said, those who debate the historical accuracy of this painting would be shocked to learn that the entire composition is a fabrication, as opposed to only a few details. The entire scene has been falsified. It’s a whitewash.

The truth is finally laid bare. How else do you figure a ragtag group of under-funded, under-supplied, civilians managed to defeat the most powerful military force on the planet?
