Death of a preacher man

So Jerry Falwell is dead.

While I take no joy in the fact that a man has died, Jerry Falwell was a vile, hateful, manipulative person. He was a snake oil salesman that played on the fears and prejudices of people, then amplified and provided “justification” for those fears and prejudices, all in the name of lining his pockets by selling his product, JEE-ZUS*. To quote L-7, “They’re neither moral or majority.”

I’m going to go for the obvious jab here and say that I hope he “falls well”. However, if there is a heaven, and if he gets there, I hope it’s filled with all the sinners and undesirables he so hated. You know, the gays and feminists and liberals.

Possibly the best comment about Falwell was made by former President Jimmy Carter: “In a very Christian way, as far as I’m concerned, he can go to hell.”

Good luck in the afterlife, Jerry. Let’s hope that thing about the camel and the eye of the needle was all a big joke.
