Sean Hannity Doesn’t Understand How Our System Works
I’ve commented before about the Sean Hannity Super Crazy Fun Time Wingnut Call-In Show. Yesterday, on said show, which is heard and mindlessly parroted by millions of people each day, Hannity called for the expulsion of Congressman Pete Stark (D-CA) from the House of Representatives. Surely Rep. Stark must have done something truly horrible to warrant calling for him to be kicked out of Congress. Maybe he beat up a crippled old lady, or pissed on the steps of the Capitol while giving a Nazi salute, or drowned a basket full of orphaned puppies…
Or maybe, just maybe, he had the audacity to disagree with the President. Now, last time I checked, we were still allowed to disagree with the people who hold power in this country. As such, Mr. Hannity is free to disagree with Congressman Stark. He is not, however, entitled to call for the Congressman to be expelled from his job, at least not in any official capacity. Only other members of the House of Representatives can do that, and, every two years, the voters in the Congressman’s district, two groups Hannity doesn’t belong to. And besides, even if a loud-mouthed piece of shit radio host could call for a Congressman’s expulsion, Hannity’s reason for doing so is not valid. All Congressman Stark did was disagree with the administration’s policies, specifically dumping money into what is at best a stalemate in Iraq, while vetoing an expansion of children’s health care coverage.
Apparently, in Sean Hannity’s mind, spending billions (yes, with a “B”) to blow people up halfway around the world is a worthwhile enterprise, but spending money to give health insurance to children whose parents cannot afford it is not. Did I mention Hannity is a piece of shit that doesn’t understand how our system works?
I thought so.
